To bake the juicy cake with applesauce you need the following ingredients:

160 g butter at room temperature

180 g sugar

1 packet of vanilla sugar

2 eggs size. M-L

300 g applesauce

230 g flour

60 g ground hazelnuts

½ packet of baking powder

20 g powdered sugar

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C O/U heat and grease a 26cm springform pan with butter or oil.
  • Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla sugar with the whisk of the hand mixer for about 5 minutes until light and creamy.
  • Then stir in the eggs one at a time. Then stir in applesauce.

Note:

Be careful when stirring in the eggs. If you work too quickly, the mixture can flocculate quickly.

  • Pour the flour and baking powder through a sieve into the mixture and stir in together with the hazelnuts.
  • Pour the dough into the springform pan and let it bake in the oven on the bottom rack for about 25 to 30 minutes. Towards the end of the baking time, use a chopstick to check whether the cake is baked through.

Tip:

When testing with sticks, pierce the center of the cake with a wooden skewer. If liquid dough still sticks to the skewer, the cake is not yet done. A clean skewer, on the other hand, indicates a well-cooked cake. Minimal crumbs are fine.

Dust the still slightly warm cake with powdered sugar and serve with a dollop of cream or small dots of cream.
